Pendant Kits to Knit

So you have decided to knit something different and unique, something that will catch the eye and receive comments from your friends.

Consider knitting a necklace with a pendant.

You can find ribbons and unique yarns and design your own.  Pendants are available from bead suppliers such as [tag]Fire Mountain[/tag] to name one.  Cords, ribbons  and unique yarns are available everywhere.  If you use your imagination you can even make a shoe lace look good as your base for the necklace.

If you are less adventuresome, you can purchase a kit.  Kits are available from sources such as:

[tag]Judi and Co.[/tag] – she also have bracelet kits and a wonderful selection of ribbons.

[tag]Dream Weaver Yarns [/tag]sells the magknit pendant kits.  This pendant uses a magnet to close the necklace.

[tag]Annie Howes[/tag] has a kit that allows you to make your own pendant. There is a video here to show you how.

The above links show one type of knitted necklace.  Tomorrow I will dicuss another type of knitted necklace.

Lace is Everywhere

Now that the weather is changing for the better (warmer), [tag]Lace shawl [/tag] patterns are popping up everywhere. Today I printed a free pattern from the [tag]Vickie Howell [/tag]blog called Lace Scarf Pattern, created by [tag]Melinda Marrow [/tag] and available for a limited time – until May 27. The yarn used is Vickie Howell’s Collection Craft and knit in a combination of yarn overs and knit togethers, with spots of stockinette thrown in to space apart the yarn overs.

Another shawl pattern I am in love with is the Eye of Partridge Shawl by “Aemmeleia” who blogs at Not Another Knitblog! Emily used Handmaiden 2-ply cashmere in the “Mineral” color to create her shawl. I love how she determines the end of the shawl by “Repeat pattern rows until you get sick of it, or begin to worry about running out of yarn.” Priceless!

And Emily is a very good name, right now it is the most popular girl’s name in the good old US, and my nine year old granddaughter’s name too!

You can find many other lace shawl patterns for free around the internet and at on-line groups like [tag]Raverly [/tag].

To compliment your scarf or lace shawl, you might like to have a unique shawl pin. Check out the post at my [tag] Indie Artist Blog [/tag] for places to find your special shawl pin!

Cozy Knits and Cozy Makes

Keeping with my new direction I found a knitter with a brand new [tag]Masters Degree[/tag]. She has a blog (of course – don’t we all) and she is supporting herself with her knitting business at [tag]esty[/tag] and with a new knitting book that will be published in 2008.

I will let her talk about herself in her own words – Her “about me” page reads:

my name is [tag]cosette cornelius-bates,[/tag] although most people call me cosy. i just graduated with my Masters in Christian Studies in theology and the arts, during which i became enthralled with wool, so much so that i even knit/spun/dyed/recycled my [tag]thesis project[/tag]. i am currently running my small knitting business full time, funded by a knitting book that i have coming out in spring 2008: [tag]Knit One, Embellish Too: Hats, Mittens, and Scarves with a Twist[/tag]. We’ll see how long that lasts :)

Her esty site reads:

Shop Announcement WE’RE MOVING in real life! the shop will be back in late early to mid september.

I’ll be at the ‘[tag]I Made It[/tag]‘ crafty market Saturday September 29th, 2007 it is at the [tag]Brewhouse Association[/tag], 2100 Mary Street on the south side of [tag]Pittsburgh[/tag] PA. hope to see you there!
